Internal Family Systems

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a non-pathologizing evidence-based psychotherapy that focuses on a person’s inner system that consists of protective and wounded inner parts led by a core self. Each person has inner parts that interact in a dynamic, like members of a family. An example is when we say, “A part of me wants to say yes, but a part of me wants to say no.” This highlights an inner conflict between two parts of yourself. This modality allows you to access and understand those parts and their dynamics, heal wounds, and achieve connectedness both internally between parts and externally in relationships and the world around you.
