Somatics

Somatic (meaning “related to the body”) therapies, such as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, help a person to process and resolve stress held in the nervous system and reconnect with their bodies to experience new capacity for connection in the world.

Healing body and mind

Many popular therapy modalities focus on an individual’s thoughts with the hope of changing how that person feels emotionally and in their body. When we experience trauma, stress responses in the body can continue and disrupt a person’s emotional resilience and experience of safety in their body and environment.

Many people find that only talking about trauma and experiences does not fully resolve symptoms. As opposed to focusing on thoughts, the therapist will help clients get in touch with sensations and intelligence held in the body to promote healing and integration between body and mind.
