Staying With It Working With Dissociation In EMDR

Bio: Brooke Eaton, LCSW

Brooke is an EMDR Instructor, Consultant, and Clinical Supervisor specializing in complex trauma, attachment, and dissociation. She spent nearly a decade working with survivors of domestic violence, developing deep expertise in how trauma patterns affect family systems. She integrates Internal Family Systems, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and EMDR in her work. Brooke offers Integrative EMDR Intensive Therapy and Retreats at Pittsburgh Center for Integrative Therapy and Anchored Integrative Wellness, which she co-owns. As an EMDR instructor, she teaches Basic EMDR and advanced trainings in partnership with the Trauma Institute & Child Trauma Institute and Playful EMDR.

Objectives

1. EXPLAIN HOW DISSOCIATION CAN IMPACT THE USE OF EMDR WITH CLIENTS THAT HAVE COMPLEX TRAUMA.

2. RECOGNIZE HOW DISSOCIATIVE QUALITIES AND SYMPTOMS CAN PRESENT ACROSS THE LIFESPAN.

3. DESCRIBE WAYS TO WORK WITH AND MANAGE DISSOCIATION ACROSS ALL 8 PHASES OF EMDR THERAPY.

4. COMPARE CURRENT WORKING THEORIES ON HOW TO ADAPT EMDR TO SUCCESSFULLY PROCESS COMPLEX TRAUMA NARRATIVES.

5. APPLY SKILLS AND EMDR ADAPTATIONS TO CURRENT CASES, AND PRACTICE RELEVANT SKILLS.
